WAIKATO CAVALRY, "C" TROOP.

On Thursday, the members of the Hamilton Troop proceeded t» the butts for carbine practice, under the command of Lieut. Johnson. The conditions of the rapidity ball practice were aa last year, riding at speed a quarter-of-a-mile over two fixed fences, dismounting, picqueting horees, and firing, the whole time allowed being 3 minutes. The snoring, on the whole, was remarkably good, and a great advance on that of last year. The following are the /scores made by each half section : —

Yesterday the troop were exercised in ball practice, the ranges being 200, 300, and 400 yards, five shots at each, any position, target at two first ranges 6x4 (centre 2x2, bull's eye 8 inches), and at last range target 6x6 (centie 4x4, bull's eye 2 x 2). The following are the scores : —

To-<lay being the last day of the drill, the troop will par.ule for inspection by Colonel Lyon, the officer commanding the district, at the rifle range at 10 a.m. After the inspection it is the intention of the officers, if practicable, to arrange a programme of sports. On. Sunday there will be a church parade, for which purpose the troop will muster on Sydney Square at 10 a.m. The Hamilton Band have consented to play the troop to church. Members of the band are requested to be on the ground punctually at 10 o'clock, in full dress uniform.
