THE GENERAL ELECTION.

Mr McMinn addressed the electors at Whatawhata on Tuesday evening. Mr Dawson was in the chair and there was a numerous attendance. The candidate's address was listened to with attention, and at the close, Mr is ellow asked him if it was his intention to retire from the contest. In reply, Mr McMinn stated if a honafulc settler came out he would retire, hut not otherwise. A vote of thanks was accorded the candidate. Mr J. B. Whyte will meet the electors of Waikato at the Oddfellow's Hall, Hamilton East, on Saturday evening next and at the Public Hall, Cambridge, on the following Monday. Mr Johns will address the electors of Waipa at the Court-hoase, Hamilton at 7.30. o'c'ock this evening, and at the school-house, Cambridge YVest, on Saturday evening at the same hour. Mr F. A. Whitaker will address the Waipa electors at Ngaruawahia, on Saturday evening next, and at Ohaupo in the following Monday. Mr McMinn will address the electors at Te Awamntu, on Saturday evening next. Mr W. Johns met the electors at Ngaruawahia in the school-house on Tuesday evening. There were about 60 persona present and the chair was occupied by Captain Lindsay. After hearing the candidates views a few questions were asked, and at the close a vote of thanks were carried.

Mr Monk definitely announces himself as a candidate for Farnell againat Mr Moss, Mr Watson, auctioneer, has been requisitioned to offer himself for Avon, in opposition to Mr Rolleston. Mr Seymour addressed the electors at Blenheim, and received a vote of confidence. Mr Kelly addressed the electors of New Plymouth, and received a vote of confidence, with only one dissentient voice. Mr Cargill received a vote of confidence from the' electors of Dnnedin Central. Mr Thomas Bracken makes the fifth candidate for thiaceafc.
