Our own Correspondent, writing yesterday says : — The Committee appointed to carry out our sports on Boxing Day viz. Messrs T. Finch, S. Connell, M. Assmuss. J. McCabe, Henare Kaihau and Tv Tawhiao. With Mr Finch> treasurer, Mr Hinton, starter, are losing no time, in the necessary preliminaries of raising the funds for it. The two candidates' visit here on Thursday last was of course too good to be lost, and both gentlemen liberally responded to an introduction to the subscription list — The old Exchange Hotel here is once more about to chancre hands, Mr P. Connell late of the armed Constabulary force being now about to take possession. As one of the oldest and best -known men of the force, and from his genial disposition, no doubt will obtain his share of the public support in bis new -venture, — The King natives have not; yet completed their planting here for the great meeting. Tutua Te Ngakau with the Ngatihaua have been busy clearing the flat above the bridge on the west side of township, and on Saturday they received a large quantity of seed potatoes from Cambridge. Tawhiao himself occasionally comet* in, he is not in the best of health, and has not recovered his eyesight — At a meeting of our cricket club on Saturday evening it was determined to endeavour to arrange for a friendly mttch with tta QamUtOQ Cluft,
