Chbistchurch, last night.~-Our correspondent reports : — Sporting matters are unusually quiet for the eve of a Metropolitan meet. Betting is absolutely at a standstill. Training gallops this morning were prevented. There are no special features to report. The city is gradually filling with visitors, but it does not seem so busy aa upon previous occasions of the kind.
