Ohaupo.

Mr W. J. Hurst has obtained a valuable site from Mr Edwards for the purpose of erecting a seed and manure store, under the local agency of Mr Ryburn. The building is making rapid progress, and will be opened in a very short time. — Mr W. Hunter, senr., has purchased that beautiful and central homeotoad at Ohaupo from Mr J. S. Buckland fronting the main road and railway, extending to the Horseshoe Lake, one of those romantic sheets of water for which Ohaupo has so long been celebrated. — School improvements came under the notice of the committee at last meeting. The chairman reported that he had been constantly urged to put the school fence into proper repair, as the old brush fence had disappeared in a most mysterious fashion. This is the more singular as there is abundance of good bush where firewood may be had for fetching. He has called for tenders for the fence, stipulating for cast ii on posts, but has only received one tender, and that for ■nrought iron, which he considered to be too inflammable to be entertained. One gentleman suggested the erection of a new out-house, as the one now in use wanted a new door, new seating, blocks, floor, and side*, and it is lately getting 1 smaller and bcauli fully less Another committee man remarked it was like the " ould musket" he had in the l( ould country" — a real beauty bar the lock, stock and barrel. R.esolved that as summer is advancing-, and thinsrs generally getting touchy and infl.imable, a cast iron outhouse bo obtained at once. Cariied.— The (Jhuumnn remaiked th.it as the annual appointment of committeemen would boon bo lound again, he would suggest that a cast iion commissioner be appointed for the next year to conduct the affairs of the school, a* it would be a g'leat convenience to all concerned. The suggestion was not cariied.
