THE VOLUNTEER MUSTER.

A Press Association telegram, received at a late hour List night, reports : —The services of the Wellington Engineers have been accepted. Twenty of the Ashburton Rifle 3 have volunteered to go to the front. At a meeting of the Dunedin company held to-night, 25 Navals offered for active service. Col. Sfcavely firat addiessed them. He warned then: that they must not expect to meet with mere child's play. Ifc is expected that tins contingent will be augmented by at le.ist 30 volunteers from Poit Chalmers. The Alexandra Cavalry, 52 strong, under command of Capt. Somerville, lerfc Wang.inui to-day for the ft out. A large crowd gathered to see them off. The local volunteer bands played them to the station. The troops were well mounted, and presented a fine appearance. The infantry leave by steamer on SitimLiy At a parade of volunteers in Nelson on Thursday evening, about 130 men were present, including the Naval Brigade, who were examined by Dr. Boor. Seventeen were rejected. It is expected that with the country corps at least 150 men will leave for Opunake to-night by the Hinemoa. The Wairarapa voluuteers have been accepted, and the Wellington Guards will tender their services to-mor-row. The Stella left Wellington to-night for Lyttelton, to bring on the Canterbury men. The following volunteer corps are called out for active service until recalled by the Governor's authority, and the officers and volunteers of each of the said corps are directed to assemble at the head-quarters of the corps. The districts and names of the corps are : — New Plymouth : Taranaki Mounted Rifles. Patea: Wairoa Light Horse, Hawera Light Horse, Patea Rifles, Wayerley Rifles, Normanby Rifles. Wanganui : Alexandra Cavalry, Wanganui Rifles, Wanganui City Rifles, Rangitikei Royal Rifles, Manchester Rifles. Nelson : B Battery New Zealand Regiment of Artillery, Nelson City Rifles, Stoke Rifles, Waimea Rifles. Thames : Engineers, NO3. 1, 2, and 3 Companies Thames Scottish Battalion, Thames Rifle Rangers, Thames Native Rifles, Thames Naval Volunteers. Wellington : D Battery New Zealand Regiment of Artillery, City Rifles, Kaiwarawava Rifles, Wellington Guards, Wellington Naval Brigade, New Zealand Engineers, Corps of Submarine, Wairarapa, Greytown, Maßterton, and Carterton Rifles.
