Wang vxtri, Last Night. Wanganui Spring Meeting, to-day, was favoured by beautiful weather, and a large attendance. The course was in splendid condition.
Maidkf Plate, £50. Ely 1, Taipo 2, Discretion 3. Eight started. Ely was favourite. Comet cut out the running, with Taipo next, and Ely fourth. This order was observed for half-a-mile, when Ely went off next Taipo, and the pair passed Comet, Avho was beaten. Taipo led until just before entering the straight, when Ely came away, and won easily by three lengths, with the same distauee between second and third. Time 2mins. 4Ssecs.
Handicap Hurdles, £50. Angler 1, Monk 2, Hawthorn 3. This was a very pretty race, the jumping being good throughout. Augler held back till the last; quarter-mile, when he ran up to Monk, and the latter jumping unkindly at the last hurdle allowed Angler to secure the lead. Won by two lengths. Time 4mins. 25^secs,
Wanganui Stakes, £150, Merlin i, Venture 2, Slander Filly 3. Eleven started. Won by a length. Time 4mins. 11 stbs seconds.
