Wellington, Last Night. The amounts realised by the sale of lands at Hawera was : — Deferred payments, £7514 Bs2d; cash sale, £12,627 16s. The manager of the Albion Gold Mining Company, Terawhiti, reports that he has been driving on a reef to the south during the week, and has tunnelled 35 feet, and that there is a decided improvement in the stone. The prospects of the company are most encouraging.
Nelson, Last Night. A body, supposed to be that of a newborn child, has been found here, wrapped in female clothes, and partly buried on an unformed road. The police are making inquiries.
