TE AROHA GOLD-REEF DISCOVERIES. [PER TELEGRAPH. |

Our correspondent, dating from Thames last night, reports :— Considerable excitement exists over the new fiud at Te Aroha, and quite a number of new claims have been pegged off on the line of reef. Indications in stone continue very good. The AdveHhet' pigeon message this morning says: — ''Have just returned from Hone's new fiud at Te Aroha. The only present road is over Te Avoha mountain from trig, station, off which the find lies due east and distant about two miles. The reef is cropping out and can be seen above the tops of the trees for miles. It runs direct for the Waiin Plains, and seems a continuation of the same run of reefing country, the stone being very similar, T. Gavin and myself bored a hole two feet deep m tootward of the reef, displacing about two tons of quartz which showed gold freely. I should estimate it to be worth about two ounces per ton. We discovered a nice patcli of specimen stone about 30 feet further along ; the gold is very fine, but in the stone, making it quite a yellow color. No work is done on the reef m the neighborhood of the find, nor for miles on either side, but the reef is well worth prospecting The ground is all pegged off for a distance of about three miles in five-acre leases ; so there is little chance for outsiders, holders being all Te Aroha people and natives."
