PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

The usual monthly meeting of the above council was held yesterday evening in the offices ol the Patetere Land Association, Cambridge. There were present — Messrs R. H. D. Fergusson (chairman), J. P. Campbell, Chepmell, and Ellis. The minutes were confirmed. The following tenders were received for the Te Aroha pant :— Everett for the revenue accruing from tolls alone, and Laveiy and Wintehouse, £70 and the tolls. The former was accepted, the arrangements to be left with Mr Campbell. A long communication was read from Mr A. Porter in reference to the council refusing to pay for some work done to the road leading from the main road to the Morning Star claim, asking the council to re-consider their decision. It was agreed to write to Mr Porter and tell him that enquiries would bo made ab to the money spent on the main road, but as to anything that was spent on the roads leading to the claims they took no cognizance of whatever. The following tenders were received for Te Aroha contracts : —No. l contract, N. P. Johnson, L3l 19s 6<l ; G. S. O'Halloiaii, LSI 18s; C. Mcalean, L 29 9s; O'Donohoe and Stanley, LlB. The latter was accepted subject to the contractoi supplying the material ; also the work to be subject to the approval of the engineer. No. 2 contract, Johnson, L 10; Maclean, LI ; O'Donohoe and Stanley, LlO. Maclean's tender was accepted. No. 3 contract, John&on, LB5 18s 6d ; Maclean, L 27 11s Sd; O'Donohoe and Stanley, L 27. The latter was accepted. No. 4 contract : Johnson, LS7 19s ; Maclean, L3B 3s 4d , O'Donohoe and Stanley, L 37. The latter was accepted. The following accounts were pa^ed for payment: — R. Kukwood, Ll ; C Tuok, LS 6s 8d; Wmlalo Time, L.3 Is Bd. It was resolved that tjie engineer be empowered to spend a sum not exceeding LlO to enlarge the culvert and repair the damages on the load between the lauding and the township.
