CAMBRIDGE BRASS AND REED BAND.
A meeting of the members of the Cambridge Brass and Reed Band was held at Mr Jagg's shop, at 7 o'clock on Wednesday evening last for the purpose of taking the preliminary steps prior to the reorganisation of the band. There were about ten members present, several being unavoidably absent. Mr W. Jaggs occupied the chair. After a little discussion it was unanimously decided that the band should be immediately re-oigaiiised. Several applications were received from ir.iisicians for the appointment of bandmaster, and after each hart, been gone into, and discussed on their respective merits, it was decided to accept the •services of Mons. Calon for three months, on tiial. A large number of those piesent were in favour of Mr Hadfield being appointed, but as that gentleman is in charge of the Hamilton band it was thought that he could not conveniently attend to both, especially on holiday occasions, when both bands would probably require his services. It was agreed that the band, should meet every Friday evening for practice in the Public Hall, and that they should play m the centre of the town every Wednesday evening, during the summer months. Aftci" some other small matters of no public interest had been detei mined, the meeting dispersed.
