Fighting in Tunis. Paeis, October 10. News has been received that a battle has been fought at Testor, in Northern Tunis, between the Tunisian troops and the Arabian insurgents. The engagement was of a sanguinary character, and resulted in the complete rout of the Arabs.
Death of an Austrian Statesman. Vienna, October 10. Baron Yon Haymerte, the AustroHungarian Minister for Foreign Affairs, died suddenly to-day.
The American Senate. Washington, October 10. At a meeting of the Senate, Mr Bayard (Democrat) was temporarily elected president of the Senate by 34 votes to 32. The Democrats are now obstructing the admission of a new Republican senator.
