CAMBRIDGE JOCKEY CLUB.

A meeting of the members of this club was held at Rose's Masonic Hotel Camon Tuesday evening last.when there were present, Dr Waddington (in the chair,) Messrs Raynes. Isaacs, Aaher, Moore, Kirkwood and Rose. > j The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The pecretary briefly explained the business for which the meeting was called j to consider. The first matter of iraportanco for consideration ' was whether the Steeplechase at the Last Meeting in which Spqrtaman, Harkaway and Dario took part was really a race, if so was Mr Adams to get the stakes, and if not what was to be done with the money. All the money had been paid with the exception of this, and he had been instructed by the President not to pay until the affair was satisfactorily decided. Some people were of opinion that the race should have been run over again, and others thought Harkaway had fairly won the stakes. t Dr Waddington cited an incident of a like nature which happened at the '-Shrewsbury (England) meeting 1842, where three horses took part in the race. A short distance from home the two foremost horses jumped at the wrong side of the flag, not noticing their mistake until they had passed the judge's box the third horse which was fully a quarter of a mile behind winning and getting the stakes. He thought that when both horses passed the judgos box it was either a race or no race. Mr Kirkwood then proposed the following resolution which was seconded by Mr H. W. Moore, and carried—' ' That the secretary write to frhe sporting editor of the Australasian stating all the facts of the late steeplechase and request him to decide whether it was a. race or not, and if bo which horse was the winner, and that the answer received shall be binding on this club." The Domain Reserve. In reference to this matter Mr A. Isaacs proposed the following resolution, which was seconded by Mr Raynes and carried — ' ' That the tecretary write to the Chairman ot the Domain Board thanking him for the offer of the board of 35 acres of the domain reserve and deolining same, it not being suitable to the club for racing purposes." Mr Taylor and the Club. Mr Kirkwood proposed and Mr Raynea seconded — "That the club have resolved to withdraw from the purchase of part of Mr Taylors property, and that that gentlemen may hereby consider himself released from the bargain. And also that the club beg to thank him for the consideration he had t-hown them in this respect,"
