HAMILTON CRICKET CLUB.

The adjourned annual meeting of the members was held at the Royal Hotel on Saturday evening last, Mr J. W. H. Wood, the captain of the Club, in the chair. There were about a dozen members present. The Treasurer read the balance sheet for the past year, which showed that after making heavy disbursements for forming and fencing the pitch on Sydney Square and for a large stock of cricketing materials, the debit balance only amounted to £3 6s. The statement was adopted unanimously. The meeting then proceeded to elect officers for the ensuing year, with the following result : — President, Mr P. A. Whitaker ; Vice Presidents, Messrs J. B. Whyte and H. W. Northcroft ; Captain, Mr J. W. JEL Wood ; Secretary, Mr J. Palmer; Treasurer, Mr H. Steele; General Committee, Messrs Wood, Palmer, and Steele, (ex officio) Messrs Tonks, Forrest, and Gleeaonj Match Committee, Messrs Wood, Gleeson, and Forrest. Coleman ani carried "That it be a recommendation to the committee to take such steps as they shall think expedient for the purpose of securing that Sydney Square be fenced during the current year." A cordial vote of thanks to the officebearers and committee for the past year was recorded, and the meeting was brought to a close with the usual vote of thanks to the chair.

General Meeting. Immediately after the above, a general meeting of the members was hold, Mr Wood again occupying the chair. The Chairman haviug addressed a few words to the members expressive of his gratification at the improving prospects of the (Jlub ; the necessity for united working ; and the benefits which they were likely to derive from the establishment of a Cricket Association in Waikato, the meeting proceeded to the election of new members. The following were duly proposed :— — Honorary members : Messrs Woodward, Gaudin, and H. Reynolds ; acting : Messrs J. M. Speed, Brennan, J. Barngh, M. Pikenng, J. McNicol, Coop, Christie, W. J. Gribble, W. Yon Stunner, and F. Rhodes The Chairman reported that Mr Forrest had made an offer to keep the pitch in order during the season, leaving it to the Club to remunerate him according to its means at the close of that period. After discussing the subject, the members came to the conclusion that a fixed sum ought to be offered Mr Forrest, and it was resolved to offer him £5. Subse> quently this was accepted. It was resolved that the cricket season be opened on Saturday, the Bth October, with a match, eleven against all comers, the following to comprise the eleven :—: — Messrs Wood, Gleeson, Forrest, J. B. Smith, J. Edgecnmbe, Percy, W. Hunt, J. Palmer, Ellison, Coleman, and Steele. This concluded the business of the meeting.
