During the passage of the steamship Oreti from Gisborne, whilst passing Lothian Point the second officer Clarke, who was painting the \essel, fell overboard, the steamer then going 10 knots. She was, however, smartly handled by Captain Campbell, who brought her up, loweied a boat, and placed Clark on board again in ten minutes after the mishap

Tram-Oar Accident. Wellington, Last Night. A serious accident occurred on a tramcar, at noon to-day, to a lad named Power, a tailor, who was bringing his father's dinner down. It is supposed tiiat in attempting to alight from the tram while in motion, he slipped. He was immediately removed to the hospital. It is believed the front of his face is smashed and fingers cut off.
