CAMBRIDGE COURSING CLUB.
Judges : Messrs J. Forrest and S. Buckland ; slipper : Mr P. J, Bendall. An All- Aged Dog Sweep of two guineas was ran for yesterday on the estate of Messrs E. Maclean oncl Co., at Fen Court, for which only 12 dogs entered. Notwithstanding that the morning was in somo degree threatening, rain coming down at intervals, a pretty large number of the sporting public availed themselves of the day's outing. The proceedings, however, were not favoured with the presence of many ladies ; a few put in an appearance, and perhaps had the weather been less threatening in the morning the attendance would have been considerably larger than it really was. Between seventy and eighty equestrians were present, together with a considerable number on foot. The fine spacious grass paddocks surrounding the Fen Court homestead were put at the disposal of the Club by the urbane owner, and to this gentleman the thanks of the Club are mainly due for the generous readiness he has displayed, not only on this but on other occasions of a like nature. There was no eminence from which the coursing could be seen to advantage, and as the fern and thistles were pretty thick over the ground the spectator who remained on foot ran a bad chance of witnessing the contests. There was a plentiful supply of hares, but unfortunately several courses were lost. The following are the results :—: — First Tiks. Mr Robert Fergusson's Never Miss beat Mr E. Hewitt's Princess. Mr Robert Fergusson'a Venus beat Mr Robert Fisher's Fly. ; Mr Allwill's Blackboy beat Mr Hunter's Juno. Mr Robert Fergusson's Ivanhoe beat Mr Allwill's Primrose. Mr Carter's Euchre beat Mr E. Hewitt's Duke of Wellington. Mr Tyson's Master beat Mr Kirkwoods Spring. Second Ties. Blackboy beat Never Miss. Venus beat Euchre. ' Ivanhoe beat Master. It was! decided by lot that Blackboy should run against Venus for the third tie, the deciding cdurse to be between the winner and Ivanhoe. Blaekboy beat Venus, and the deciding course between the former and Ivanhoe will be run on Monday at 10 o'clock.
, are invited by the Piako , County Council for certain road works at Te Aroha goldfields.
