Diabolical Outrage. London, September u. An extraordinary outrage has taken place at Lille, an important manufacturing city in Fiance, in the Depaitment of Isoul. A laige number of the principal oiti /.ens of the pl.iee lecenod parcels containing some explosive material, and on an attempt being made to open them they exploded, in several cases with very disastrous icsults. Many persons have been killed and others injured. The cause of the outrage is entirely unexplnin able. Brigandage in Spain. London, September 6. In the vicinity ot Toledo, a band of brigands attacked a train running on the branch railway from Madiid, but were repulsed, and in escaping a number were di owned in the river, which neaily surlounds the city. Russia and Austria. London, September 7. Eel.itiona between the Emperors of Russia and Austria ha\ c become {-trained. A marked coldness between the two Powers is apparent, arusing out of conflicting- interests in south-east Euiope. The Austrian Press are discussing the question, and declare that recent indications point to war with Russia as imminent. The Jewish Persecution. London, .September 7. The anti-Jewish feeling- in Germany is still very marked among the lower class of population, notwithstanding that the agitation ia discountenanced by the Government. Cholera at Aden. London, September 7. Cholera has broken out at Aden, the British station at the entrance to the Red Sea. Precautions have been taken to secure as far as possible the health of the (troops, but the epidemic is making great ravages. Railway Accident. New ifoRK, September 7. A serious accident occurred in Kentucky. A bridge gave way as a train was passing over, causing a terrible smash. Seven persons were killed on the spot, and a number of others seriously injured. Land Agitation in Great Britain. London, September 13. Agitation is rapidly spreading among the farming population of England and Scotland in favour of the extension to those countries of the new principles of land legislation embodied in the Irish Land Act.
