Bills Advanced. Wellington, Last Night. The House met at 11 o'clock. The following bills were read a second time : — Patents Acts Amendment ; Sheep Act' Amendment; Port Chalmers Dock. Counties Act Amendment. Mr Hall moved the second reading of the Comities Act Amendment. Mr Ballance pointed out that the Bill raised most important issues, and ought not to be put forward at this stage of the session, Mr Hall said that without prejudice to the bill he would postpone it. so as to enable other business to be gone on with. Sir George Grey hoped that the measure would not bo postponed. Mr Wood pointed out that the necessity for the measure was very great. The motion for the second leading was put and carried, and the House went into Committee on the above bills. When the hour for adjournment arrived all, with the exception of Special Powers and Contracts, were read a third time, and passed. The House rose at I A3. Bills Lapsed. The House resumed at 3.30. The Speaker ruled that the following bills referred to committee last night had lapsed, owing to there being ncvHouse to receive the reports of committee: — Municipal Corporation Amendment ; Miners' Rights Reduction ; Harbor Act Amendment ; Auckland University College, and Surveyors' Institute Bills, and the Government Liberal Subsidy Resolution, Questions. Replying to questions put it was stated th.it Government would not promise to introduce a bill next session dealing -with the honorarium.
