There were . present — Messrs Corboy, Day, and Bailey. , The rate haviug 1 been, struoic, all other business was left over for the ordinary monthly .meeting, which was held at the Delta Hotel, Ngaruawahia, on ' "Wednesday^ September 7th. There were present — Mess'foj Corboy, Fitzpatricfcy land Bailey.! The ininuteß of last meeting' having been read and confirmed, the Chairman (Mr Corboy) submitted to the Board copies of a telegram apd letter forwarded by him to Mr F. A. Whitaker, M.H.R., requesting him to exert his influence for the purpose of getting & sum of £700 placed on the Estimates to complete the Waipa-Raglan road, on that portion of it bteween the property of C ' J. 1 Stone, Esq., and Whatawhata. The other member* present cordially endorsed the action taken by the Chairman. Cattle Fees. A letter was received from Mr Morrison, the late Ranger, enclosing a, list of ' the amounts oolleoted by him from individual settlers as cattle fees during last i year. The Secretary was to make two copies of same, and post one in a conspicuous place at Whatawhata, and the other at Ngaruawahia, for the infor- j mation of ratepayer?. Hamilton' Whatawhata Road. A communication was received from the Hamilton District Board asking if this body were prepared to bear their share of the expense of doing necessary repairs to that portion of this road which lies between the two districts. — The matter was deferred till next meeting. Furze. The Secretary was ordered to write to certain owners of property in the district requesting "them to clear ' the furze from the roads on which their properties abut. Appointment of Ranger. The following tenders were received for the lease of run for current year :—: — Kenneth Morrison, £26 17s ; T. Y. Fitzpatrick, £2& ; W. Sheppard, £20 ; A. M Fergusson, £10 10s. ' Tenders were also received from parties willing to undertake the duties of ranger :— A. M. Fergusson, £12 10s ;T. Y. Fitzpatrick, £12; G. W. Riphards, JE9 ; A. Crawford, £9 ; Kenneth Morrison, £7 10s ; W. Sheppard, £7 10s. It was resolved to accept the tender of W. Sheppard to act as ranger for the Board, conditionally on his agreeing to comply with their regulations. Some further discussion took place as to the propriety of making some alteration in the number of cattle each settler should be permitted to run ; the custom has been to allow one head for every 10 acres. It was decided to allow any occupier of 100 acres or less to run 15 head, and two head for each 50 above that up to a limit of 30 head ; no pigs, sheep, or entire horses or cattle to be allowed on the run. Accounts amounting to £11 17s were passed and cheques issued. It was arranged that members should meet near Mr Hobbs at 10 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, October 6th, for the purpose of inspecting some of the roads, with a view to spending any monies at their disposal where most needed. The next meeting will be held at Kellow's Whatawhata Hotel at 2 p.m. the same day.
