TE AWAMUTU NEWS. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.]

Serious Accident. Sui'EBINTENDBNT Tiiomson, who arrived here yesterday, in the course of his official circuit of of the Waikato District, met with a serious accident when on hie way to Alexandra from Te Awamutu. Ho was riding in a buggy, and when about half way on his journey one of the horses on being whipped by the driver lashed out and kicked him on the left leg, with auch violence that the shin - bone was fractured. He was driven back in much pain to Lewie' Hotel, and in the absence of Doctor Blunden was attended by Mr Sloane, under whose care the inflammation was much reduced. Amusements. A ball will be given to-morrow night by the Te Awamutu Rinking Club to themembera of the Alexandra club. Suoh of the visitors as may feel any additional pleasure in attending in fanoy dress are invited to do so, though from the difficulties in the way of obtaining anything like theatrical costumes in Te Awamutu, it is expected that the efforts in that line will be limited to the display of a few qricketing, foot* balling, and jockey uniforms. Fancy is so plentifully lavished on the usual dresses of the fair «ex to day, that there is no room for the wildest freaks of invention to appear.— -(September 9th.)
