RESIDEN T MA GISTR A TE'S COURT, HAMILTON. Yesterday. —[Before H. W. Northcroft, Esq., R.M., and His Worship the Mayor. ]
Wilful Damage to Property, James Simms, a laborer, was charged with being drunk and disorderly on the night' of the 6th mat., and with damaging certain property, to wit toilet set and looking-glass, in a bedroom of the Waikato Hotel, the property of Mr F. Gaiulm. The evidence of the arresting constable, Mr Gaudin, and Mr Locke, barman at the hotel, having been taken, the Bench found the accused guilty, and for the first offence fined him 10s ; in default, forty-eight hours' imprisonment, and for the second inflicted a fine of 10s, with costs and damages, or in default, one month's imprisonment in Mount Eden gaol. Several unimportant civil cases were brought up and determined.
