WKtMNGTON, Tuesday. The House met at 2. 30. Miscellaneous, Questions, etc Thb report on the aubjeet of direct c f «am communication with England was brought up, and ordered to be considered on the 13th September. Mr J. B. Fisher gave notice to ask the Govornmenfc upon what grounds they returned Sir Julius Vogel's letter. Reports connected with the Life Assurance Department were laid on the table. Replying to questions it was stated, Government could hold out no expectation to the " collect system being extended to delayed telegrams. Any alteration they might suggest would be in the direction of a reduction of tariff. A Bill to give effect to the decision of the Native Affairs Committee in the case of (the Waipawa natives respecting the land on Mr Harding's ruo would be introduced tomorrow. Before releasing the the quarantine regulations in regard to the Arawata from Sydney, at Auckland last week, the doctor had communicated the facts of the case to Government, reporting the passengers in a healthy state, and the vaccination regulations duly complied with. Stonewalling. The Stonewalling was commenced by Mr Reeves who moved the adjournment. He was followed by Sir George Grey who spoke till 10. 30. Mr Hall said compromise was now impossible. The majority muetrule, and the Government would proceed with no other business until the bill was disposed of. ■
