Sir, — I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the date quoted m the margin (ist instant), forwarding .1 petition from a number of persons protesting against the proposal to place £ioo on the Estimates for the purpose of erecting a Public Hall at Hamilton, and recommending that that sum should be voted for a library instead. In reply, lam directed by the Colonial Secretary to state that the Government has no intention of placing £too on the Estimates for building a Public Hall at Hamilton. — havo, etc, G. S. Cooprr.
