Co. report, under date 8} due), August Bth, as follows, — Wool. — There is nothing special to leport respecting transactions in this m.irki t during' the past month, lhe wool offered at the public sales has consisted largely of countn scoured and fellmongered lots, below the average in condition, and of small lots of greasy and remnants ot clips ; but for all submitted ther there has been a firm demand, at full \.ilucs J here is e\erj indication that lor the coming season, the Sydney market will more thin sustain its reputation as an advantageous one for wool growers to realize in. To those who tested prices here last jeir it is not necessary to use an) argument in favour of this port, and it will not require much reflection onthepait of otheis less intimately connected therewith to see that everj thing points to the increasing favoui which S)dnej is securing both as a wocl market and a port of shipment. This is now freely acknowledged by the other colonies, from whence some ot the leading houses have sent repiesentatives in order to sccuie a share of our rapidly incrcasiiig trade. Ihe second series of .London Sales closed on the 2nd July, and the next is arranged to commence on the 23rd in stant. '1 he clearances from this Port since the Bth ultimo include three vessels, taking 2128 bales, making a total shipment to date from Ist October last of 215,695 b lies. Sheepskins. — Ihe supply has been unusually large this month, but values Iliac been well maintained owing to the active competition by the local fellmongers. Qant itions m 1)' be given .is follows •— Uest, 6id to jd ; medium, 53d to 6d ; and pelts and short growth, 2WI to 4d per lb. I'allow.— A considerable business has been done during the month for e\port, and beef tallow has been readily placed at from £27 10s to j^27 15s per ton ; mutton is worth from £28 to £20, and mixed £20 to £26 per ton Hides. — Shippers have operated with freedom at late sales, and heavy hides have been soi'ght after for local requirement. We quote hoavics at from /)d to 4Jd ; medium, •j'Jdto id ; and light and dry, if free of weevils, from 4(1 to sd per lb. — Horse hides are in limited supply, and large siaes would sell readily at from 6s to 7s 6d each, and small to medium 3s to ss. Grain. — Wheat : Piiccs have fluctuated during the month, and at our sale on the 14th ultimo we obtained up to 5s 3d per bushel for best samples, but the market has now assumed an easier tone, and we quote medium quality at iiora 4s 8d to js tod;?and best at from 4s rid to 5s per bushel.— English Barley : At our last sale we disposed of a considerable quantity at fiom 2S to 2s <\& per bushel.— Oats : First-class linns can be placed at tap to 3* per bushel, and medium quality at from zs 6d to 2s iod. -Bran : Our late wies nave been at up to i3|dpor bushel.. — Pollard is worth from i2d to c jd per bushel.
