YESTERDAY'S SITTING.
The Council met at 2 30. Capt. Baillie's Case. On the hon. Mr Water-house's motion the Standing Orders Committee was directed to consider whether Capt. Baillie is disqualified from sitting in the Council through taking forage allowance.
Bills Advanced. The Education Act T877, Amendment Bill and the Fisheries Bill were read a third time. The second reading of the Titnaru Harbour Ec»dewment Bill was moved by Mr Wilson. Several councillors spoke strongly against the bill on the ground that the Timaru H -rbour is certain to fill with shingle as predicted by Sn* J. Ooode and two Government engineers, and which is now happening. On Mr Whitaker's motion the debate wa9 adjourned, and the Council adjourned.
