Opening of the Kail way to Helens - ville. Auckland, Last Night. The Kaipara railway was opened through to Helensville to-day. A long train, drawn by two engines, went through in celebiation of the event.
Arrival of the ship Dunkeld. The Dunkeld, ship, has arrived from London.
The Fiji Plantations.—Demand for Labour. The Southern Cross from Fiji has arrived. The news is unintciestinq. There is, however, a great demand for labour for planters. A deputation waited upon the Governor to procure a supply.
The Mails. Wkllingtow, Last Night. The Australia, with the London mails of the 10' th ultimo, left San Francisco on on Sunday, the 3rd inst., one day later than time Lvblp date. The City of New York, with the June colonial m*ils, arrived at San Francisco on the Ith int>t,, time table date.
The Eevised New Testament. Chuistchubch, Last Niffht. There is a great demand for the revised New Testament. On .Saturday Simeon and Company sold 620 copies, and could have bold 250 more if they had them. The Ancient Order of Druids.
The Druids have iesolved to celebrate the centennary on August 30th by a torchlight procession, and concert and ball.
The Opera Company, Mi.ss Leaf arrived on Saturday to join the Pirates of Penzance Company.
The Parihaka Meeting.—Presentation of £200 to Te Whiti. Oi'Unake, Last Wight. At the Pavihaka meeting, yesterday, Houa Pibiama'a wife, on entering the villiage heltl up on a supplejack £200 as a present for Te Whiti. The prophet, in addressing the people, enjoined them not to interfere with the constabulary by pulling down fences, as hostilities had passed away.
