HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual monthly financial meeting of this body was held at their Chambers, Hamilton West last night, „ There were present— His Worship the Mayor, Crs. : Vmlou, Hill, Sandes, Peat, and McGarrigle. On the motion the Mayor, the Council resolved itself into a committee to consider the financial condition ,oi.the Borough. ' , f , \! Several accounts were passed for payment. The Clerk drew attention to the state of thedraih leading through Mtf Mayes' property, and adjoining that of Mr Vialou. He was desirous of knowing whether this was a public or a piivate one, so that he might take immediate steps to rectify the nuisance. The Council thought as this was a private drain, the owner of the property in which it was situate should see to it. The Mayor and Cra McGarrigle and Vialou went into committee to consider what steps should be taken re Seddon's drain. The Committee brought up a report to tho effect that they declined to accede to Mr Scddon's request.
