THE FIRE AT HALLY'S BREWERY, CAMBRIDGE.

T|IE fire which broke out in the above premises on Monday evening last, was, we are glad to learn, not so destructive as at first anticipated; the damages now being estimated at about £130, instead of about £250, as was first stated. The fire originated in the kiln-house, the fire under the kilu having— it is supposed— caught hold of some of the adjoining wood- work, and there being no one present to detect the progress of the flames, the destructive ngeucy soon communicated itself to the roof above. It was, therefore, not until the fire had assumed a formidable appearance that the danger was detected and the alarm given, bat as there were many willing hands collected with a fair aupply of water >at their command, all material danger was practically averted by their timely interference. ( Credit is certainly due to several gentlemen who were mainly instrumental in subduing the flames ; some, it must be said, at considerable £isk to their exterior person. Mr fUynes, we hear, having fallen off a ladder, sustained considerable injury. The stock is insiited in the North British, and the building in the South British. The former will have to pay £30 of the estimated damage, and the latter £100.
