The JNgatetoa Royal Commission find that the following are entitled to participate as representatives of deceased ' in the distribution of the £5200 in lieu of land claims, promised to twenty-six natives in connection with the sale of the Wahipou block in August, 1853 :— Hete j[male) and Rangipane (female). £100 ««aoh and interest in respect of Eraiate Himga (dead). i
The Fukekura Licensing District. Mr Clements has. been here moving in the matter of the Pukekura Licensing District. Mr Northcroft, It seems, re^ Commended the appointment of Commissioners well known to be inimical to the granting of his license. He had an interview with the Minister of Justice, and he informs me that the Magistrate's conduct in this and other matters was freely commented upon and disapproved of. Eventually it was arranged that the matter should be left over until the following petition presented this afternoon by Mr WLutaker and signed by 159 resi-! dents had been disposed of : — " Your petitioners are owners of landed property and otherwise interested^in that portion of the Waipa, known as the Rangiaohia District; 2nd. That recently the said licensing district was subdivided and the Pukekura parish created an additional licensing district. 3rd. That iv the opinion of your memorialists sufficient grounds do not exist for increasing the last-mentioned district, and that other than public good was considered when the district alluded to was so defined and gazetted. 4th. There are so many matters connected with the creation of the new district that your House is respectfully requested to enquire into the allegations and give such relief as you may deem
