EVENING SITTING.
Licensing Bill. On the House resuming at 7.30, a motion \vas nidde to go into Committee on the Licensing Bill. Dr Wallis addressed the Fousc at considerable length, criticising the Bill, and urging fche claims for compensation, if licenses wore abolished by local option. Sir W. Fok replied to Dr Wallis. Mr Jones thought the question, of licensing, like others, might be dealt -with under a scheme for local government. The House then went into committee. The first eleven clauses passed without amendment. On Clause 12 an amendment by Sir W. Fox was earned by 24 to 19, providing for the election of Licensing Commissioners by the ratepayers.
