CAMBRIDGE CHESS CLUB.
A mkktin'u of gentlemen inteiestcd in the formation of a Chess Club Mas held at Mr. Bealc's offices Duke-street, on Wednesday evening 1 last. The following gentlemen ■were pie«ent : — Mc^ms. Beale. Wells, Campbell, A HosLmg, Ci. Hoskmo, Keening, Robertshaw, Moieton, Gate, and Dyer. Mr. Bealo was voted to the chair. Mr. Alfred Hosking. who had in a great mcnsuie boon the moans of originating the Club stated that lie had arranged that members should be allow ed the use of the Public Reading Room when they wished to meet for piaetirp. The following resolutions, weie earned by the meeting :— l. "That a Chess Club bo formed under the name of ' The Cambridge Che«s Club." 2 " That .ill iXonWc. men present be members of the Cambudge Chess Club." 3. " 'J hat the office-beams consist of a president, a vice-pio-ident, a secretary, and treasurer, a committee of three ; three to form a quoium. "The cntue managpment of the Club shall be a e^ted in the committee." 5. • • Tliut tlio first officebearers and committee hold oilioc till the fust Monday in May 1882, and that a meeting of the Club he held on that day for the purpose of lecciving their reportfoi tlutj ear and electing officebearers and committee for the unsuing year." G. That in the event of vac.im.ies occurring with the office-beaieis or committee, sccli vacancies shall be filled up bj the committed' 7. Candidates fm membei ship shall be pioposed by a member of the Club, and the nomination bo left with the secret.uy, who shall submit the same to the committee foi election. 8. No member shall bo expelled from the Club,oxccpthy aineetin<rspo< i illy convened foi that puipose, at which tlncefourtlis of the members of the Club shall be present aud each expulsion earned by a two-thiids majoiity. 9.
