ORGAN RECITAL AT CAMBRIDGE.
Those who attended at the organ i coital given at S. Andrew's Ansrlio.w Church by the church choir, on Friday night, last must have been gratified at the manner in which the choir went thiough the programme of sacred mu~ic <illot°d them. The various songs, hymns, duct", and choruses of which the piogiamme consisted were delivered with ;in pa.se and frracefulnpss which spoke of careful and diligent rehearse! which is indispensably necessary to the ptoper execution of a well selected programme. The unusally large audience which wa<- piosont numbering orer 130 people, was anothci pleasing featuie of the evening, and is convincing proof of the musical taste and inclination of the congregation. The Rew Mr Willis's address on the subject of "Church Music" was highly instinctive and edifying, and entertaining as well. Mr J. Beale presided at the organ throughout the evening, assisted by Mi Neal, and treated the audience to a few solos in an easy and refined manner. The following is the progiamme :— Opening Symphony ("Sleepers Awake; ) hymn, A. and M., "Nearer my God, ;" Ciedo, "Gounod's Solemn Mass ;" air, h.iunonium; Sanctus Benedictus, "Gounod's Mass;" march, "Funebie' 1 (Beethoven); address by the incumbent ; son« and chorus, " Na/.areth ;" anthem, "Thou Visitest ;" "La Canta"' (dining oficitoiy) ; song, "He wipes the tear from e\eiy eye ;" song, " Consider the Lilies ;"' duet, "God shall wipe away, &c. ;' hymn ( \. and M.), " Son of my .Soul ;"' Benediction and "Wedding Match."' At about ten o'clock the recital terminated, and all letired homewards decidedly well pleased with the evening's entertainment. The offertory amounted to o\ er 13.
