MESSRS. SANDERS AND COS. NEW PREMISES IN HAMILTON.

If proof wore wanting of the material^ progress* which Wdikato has made and is making it might bo found in the number and quality of the buildings which during the laa;fc few years have sprung up in the different centres of population In 1 answer to the public demands, nor has Hamilton been behind its sister hetthments in this matter. Tha handsome buildings which adorn Victoriastreet have nearly all sprung into existence within the last thtee or four years, and the other day another was added tj the list, Messrs. Sandes and C&. Chemists and Druggists having improved and enlarged their premises near the Post-office and rendered the building a worthy companion of its neighbours on the opposite side of the street. The old verandah has been removed and the shop extended 6 feet 6 inches to the building line of the btreet. The whole of the interior fittings have been renewed, and the counter extended round three sides, thus enabling the drug department to be kept entirely separate from the fancy goods stationary, and tobacco department, occupying the other fide. The building has been extended 17 feet in the direction of the Hamilton, Hotel, the addition consisting of a stoic, 17ft. by 14ft., and packing- room, 17ft. by 10ft., separate fioin, but communicating with, the main. store. The new part is used as a glass, chinaware, and crockery store, Messrs. S'indes & Co. having added this branch to their other businesses. The front, which id 40ft. by 16ft., consists of three plate glass windows, 10ft. by Oft., and two entrances, and has somewhat an imposing appearance. The stock of drugs and fancy goods has been extensively added to, and now embraces everything that should be found in. a first-class establishment of the kind. The stock of china and * glass is the largest and most varied in the district, and comprises a really splendid . assortment of goods, including dessert ser- \ vices, tile a lite bets, tea a;jd co£Eee services, toilet sets, paiian statuettes^ vases, ornaments, and eveiy description of household waie. A visit will at once convince anyouo of thi-., and the piemises are well worth a visit. It should be mentioned that the building: woik was executed by Mr Elliott, builder, of Hamilton, upon whom the workmanship reflects the highest credit.
