HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
In the House to-day, Dr Wallis raised a question of privilege aa to whether it was competent Cor Mr Beethatn to give notice of the Address-in-Reply on behalf of Mr Collins, who was not sworn in. The Speaker settled the matter by calling on Mr Collins to be sworn, who . then renewed the notice. ' The following bills were given notic^| of : — Hospital and Charitable Aid (Dick) j Licencing (Hall) ; Chinese Immigration (Atkinson). Mr Hall, referring to ,the point raised by Sir George Grey yesterday, that no seats were provided m the Council Chamber for the representatives at the opening ceremony, explained that the omission was accidental. Sir George Grey thought the matter of sufficient importance for the Government to move for a committee of the whole House on the subject. Mr Hall promised to consider the suggestion. The Speaker read a memo, from the Speaker of the Council, expressing regret at the occurrence, and stating that steps would be taken to prevent a recurrence. Sir George Grey's motion for all Pateteie correspondence and returns of all money paid to newspapers in the colony was agreed to. The House rose at 3.15 p.m.
