Cambridge, Last Night. A large meeting of natives intereated in the Patetere Block is convened for tomorrow, in the Constabulary paddock, to examine and consider the Btatemonfc of accounts of money paid on account of the land.

Hawera, yesterday. The land sales were well attended. All the rural lands sold except one section, and good prices were realised.

Timaru, yesterday. A lad named George Healy was accidentally shot with a bullet from a pistol fired by a clerk named Holthouse, who was piactismg with a pistol. The injuries are seriou&, but not likely to terminate fatally.

Auckland, Last Night. Buchanans house, Paumure, was discovered on fire, on the roof last night. Mrs Buchanan, who was aroused by the crackling, summoned the neighbours, and put it out. Incendiarism is suspected. The Government have wired to Auckland their approval of the Cattle Board's recommendatjon for removal of restrictions upon the conveyance of cattle from the South to North of .the VVhau portage. Prohibition will doubtless be withdrawn in a few days. E. H. Jagger, charged with forging a promissory note for £300, brought io light in Purcell's case, has been remanded to Wellington. At the Asylum inquiry, to-day, Mrs Kebble, Whitelaw's mother, deposed that she never authorised Whitelaw to receive her cheques,, or sign for her. She could only get her money from him in driblets.
