Alexandra, Last Night.

William Toetoe, of the Ngatiapakura tribe, died at Kaipiha yesterday. Deceased was a well-known chief. He returned with Dr. Hochstetter, of the Austrian expedition, to Europe. Toetoe was well received in the highest circles on the Continent, was introduced to the Queen, and received numerous valuable presents. On his return he was 3ent by the Government to endeavour to make terms of peace when war broke out in the Waikato, but joined his people. He was a large land-owner at Rangiaohia, and for some years was mail contractor between Auckland and Te Awamutu. A large number of natives have assembled to hold a tangt.
