Auckland, Last Night.
At the Police Court to-day, Purcell, the bankrupt contractor, was brought up on two charges —concealment of goodu, and forging u promissory note for £300. The cases were remanded. The North Auckland Cattle Board meetings have fallen through for several weeks past. The reason assigned is the refusal of the Government to remove the restriction against driving cattle from the south to the north of the Whau portage, which refusal, the members consider, implies a want of confidence in them. One hundred and rifty tons of kauri gum ha s been received in Auckland within the last ten days. The Board of Education to-day gave another evidenco of an improved tone towards committees. The City Committee having taken exception to certain regulations for training in the College, the Board resolved to invite a sub-committee, representing the city, to confer with the Board's executive.
