WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Waipa County Council met at the Chambers on Tuesday, February Bth, for the transaction of business, whereat Councillors Aubin, (Chairman), Hadtield, Roche, Corboy, Steele, Wainright, Cunningham, and Reynolds were present. The minutes of the last meeting having been read, the Council proceeded to discuss Councillor Steele's motion of which notice had been given. The motion being that the Council should grant a sum L 99 to the Pukekura Board for the purpose of metalling the road from Fleming's corner to the Ohaupo Railway Station. Cr. Hadfield proposed as an amendment and Cr. Corboy seconded "that the" funds at the disposal of the Council, be distributed pro rata amongst the different boards. " As a further amendment, Cr. Cunningham proposed and Cr Wainright seconded '• that a sum of LlOO be also granted to the Rangiaohia Board to metal that portion of the road in the Mangapiko district between Te Awamutu and the railway station. On being put to the vote, Cr. Cunningham's amendment was lost by 5 votes against 4, and Cr. Hadfield's amendment on being put was carried by a majority. Cr. Corboy proposed and Cr. Cunningham seconded "that a sum equal to 3s 6d in the £ on rates collected be distributed amongst the various Road Boards, " carried unanimously. The Council having discusaed the best means of enforcing the registration of dogs, Or. Steele proposed and Cr. Eeynolds seconded "that on and after the first day of March next, this Council will pay the sum of LI for all convictions under the provisions of the " Dog Registration Act, ISSO." Carried unanimously. The accounts paid amounted to L3O 16s 4d. The subsidy distributed amounted to L 276 14s sd. The following notices of motion for i next meeting were given. By Cr. Roche ; " that a special grant be made to the Alexandra Board of a sum equal to 3s 6d in the £ on the amount of rates collected in 1879. " By Cr. Oummingham ; " that out of the first funds at Mie disposal of the Council a sum of LlOO be granted to the Pukekura Board, to gravel that portion of road in the Rangiaohia District, between Fleming's corner and Ohaupo Railway Station, and an equal sum to the Rangiaohia Board to metal the road in the Mangapiko District, between Te Awamutn and the railway station." By Cr. Corboy ; " that a special grant of LlOO be given to the Newcastle District Board, to be expended on the oli Whatawhata-Hamilton road in order to enable settlers to get to the railway station."
