THE GOVERNOR'S VISIT TO CAMBRIDGE.
We have been requested to publish the following correspondence :—: — To Captain Runciman, Cambridge Cavalry Volunteers. Dear Sir, — Might I suggest that it would be advisable, seeing Hl3 Excellency the Governor makes his fii&t visit to Cambndgc on Fnday, for a detachment of the Cambridge Cavalry Volunteers to escort him from, say Mrs Oenan's corner to the Township, where it is proposed to present him with an adthess. I oljseive a detachment from the Hamilton dorps is going to perform a similar duty at Hamilton. If you think of this, you might arrange with Lieut. Kirlcnood, who is a member of the Town Board. — In haste, yours faithfully, J. P. Campbkll, Chairman Town Board, Cambridge^ 18th January, ISSI. J. P. Campbell, Esq., Chairman Cambridge Town Boa.d. My dear Sir, — I beg- to acknowledge youis of this date (per favor of Lieut. I^irkwood) ?c the desirability of the Cambridge Cavahy Volunteers escorting His Excellency the Governor into Cambridge on Friday. In reply to your suggestion, I have consulted several members of the Troop, and the general opinion is, that it being the middle of harvc-t, and the weather being: so very uusottled, a sufficient number could not bo depended upon for the purpose. — Yours faithfully, James Runciman, Captain C.C.V. Tuesday, January 18, 1881.
