THE LATEST. Irish Turbulence.— Another Bailiff Shot by Tenantry.
London, December 9. News has just been received of another serious murderous outrage in Ireland. A bailiff while executing decree for the eviction of a tenant from his farm at Cooktown, in County Tyron, was set upon by the tenant and a number of his ■ympathiaers and murdered by them before he could escape.
The Marquis of Ripon. Calcutta, December 9. Frequent telegrams come to hand iroin Allahabad regarding the state of the Marquis of Ripon. The latest bulletin reports that His Excellency is rapidly recovering from the effects of sunstroke, and is now out of danger.
The Cape War. Cape Town, December 8. News has come to hand from the seat of hostilities in Basoutland, adjoining the district, that after several severe engagements between the colonial forces and the tribes of Pondos, the latter have, owing to successive defeats, been utterly routed.
