LICENSING COURT, TE A W AM U TU.

The Court was composed of H. W. Northcroft, Esq., R.M., Captain Bockett, J.P., and Messrs Wainwright, and Hutchinson, Commissioners. J. Maddigan, of Cambridge West, applied tor a license for a house recently erected. Mr J. A. Tole appeared on behalf of the applicant ; for the opposition Mr J. A. Beale, and Mr O'Neill (Whitaker and Sheehan), Mr W. M. Hay and Mr Gresham were retained. The Bench were unanimous in deciding that the application for another public- house in the vicinity of Cambridge was premature, and the license was accordingly refused. An application for a temporary transfer of the license held by Mr Hugh Kirkwood was made by Mr Asmuss. The application was not supported by counsel, and was refused by the Bench. This concluded the business.
