The Rocky Mountain State of Colorado has made such rapid progress in the production of precious metals that it promises to rival the "Golden State " of the Pacific. "A lovely Jewish maiden" sat in Palestine as the model for the Virgin in Holman Hunt's new picture, " The Flight into Egypt." All her surroundings were painted with realistic care in the Holy Laud. Danish settlements in Greenland were established as far back as about 1000 a.d. , and there is reason to believe that visits were pud by some of these adventurers to the eastern coast of North America.
