TE AWAMUTU.
The usual monthly meeting of the Rangioahia Road Board was held at Lewis's Hotel on Saturday last, at which all the trustees were present, and the following business was transacted :: — • Three tenders for the purchase of the old church fence were ordered to be handed over to the Church Committee, the proceeds of sale to be expended in repairing church-yard fences. A letter from Mr Tole, Chief Commissioner Waste Lands Board, was read, stating that Board would recommend the ! Minister of Lands to cause allotments 46 and 223 to be permanently set apart as timber reserves, and to vest in the Board. I The claim for £23, preferred by the Mangapiko Board, and arising out of the erection of Sing's bridge some years ago, could not be entertained without the direct authority of the ratepayers, as it had not been recognised by any preceding Board. The request of a portion of the Ohaupo settlers to have that part of the district severed and added to the Pukekura District could not be complied with, as the proposed division was not considered to ba mutually beneficial. The consideration of an application from Mr Parsons, to have a road running through his farm closed, was ordered to stand orer until next meeting. Messrs Neill and Berry, who attended to ascertain whether the Te Rahu Bush reserve could be leased for sawing purposes, were informed the Board was not in favour of a wholesale cutting- of the bush. Tenders for certain works and notices for the removal of the furze nuisance from the roads, and that the rate was now due, wore ordered to be advertised. This concluded the business.
The Berry Government propose to reduce the Victorian Governor's salary to &8000.
