RAILWAY FARES.

TO THE EDITOK. Sir, — You will be doing- a kindness to many railway passengers, by exposing, what to me appears, if not a fraud, but a slight remove from it. I refer to passengers having to pay more than the usual fare, because of the inability of the statioiunastor to give change. Surely, sir, the least we can expect is to be dealt with as fairly by John's Government as we would by one of our private business gentlemen. The revorse of this, however i» the case. I have to travel regularly by the train, and on several occasions I have not been able to tender the exact amount, and at eneh time I have been obliged to leave my change behind me. To bay the least for it, this cannot but be a faulty piece of business. If instructions to a station clerk are f o loose, as not to make it incumbent upon him to give change, an incentive to something other than, virtuous at once appears. It is impossible for a private person at all times to have his exact fare. And Bhould he at such times fall into the hands of one of those extremely rare individuals, called unscrupulous, he may grin, but must content himself with the conviction that others have the same causes for an indulgence in & few specimens from that dead and dark language, usually described in newspapers, by that signature and highly instructive.—l am, &c, Fair Play.
