CAMBRIDGE DOMAIN BOARD.
A special meeting' of 1 the Cambridge Domain Board was held at the office of Mr Thomas Wells on Friday evening, the 22nd, to consider the question ot leasing a large portion of the Domain, also the allotting of certain sections for '©creation aud pther purposes, to consider the finances, and to alter the day of monthly meeting. Present : the Chairman (T. Wells, Esq.), Messrs E. B. Walker, R. Kirkwood, and J. P. Campbell. The minutes of the previous meeting being confirmed the Chairman read a letter from H. T. N, Elliott, Under Secretary Crown Lands, 1 notifying that I the Town Belt in Cambridge West of 347 acres, and the Lake Reserve of 41 j a res hal been temporarily reserved from sale for the purpose of recreation grounds, vifc Gazette No. 29, date 30th September, 188 Q. ; The Chairman then reported that Mr Gwynneth, C.E,, had on the 12th August completed the survey bond and has since been pushing on the work, which was now near completion ; also, that he (the Chairman), with the sanction of the Board, had authorised Mr Gwynneth to make the survey of Tuke te Itoutu for the sum of £15. In the matter of finance, it was stated that the Bank of New Zealand had consented to advance the Board the necessary funds for survey, etc., such sum not to sxceed £200, and to be replaced out of j rents ; the members of the Board to give their personal bill for this amount as collateral security. It was resolved that the offer be accepted, and the members present signed the bill for the £200. The Chairman said a progress payment of £100, in two sums of £50 each, had been made tb Mr Gwynneth, when it was resolved, " That this sum be passed ami the advance sanctioned. " Resolved " That a number of sections as submitted be coloured on the Domain plan as reserved, and that any very broken land unsuitable for leasing be temporarily reserved." Resolved "That Messrs Whitaker and Sheehan be instructed to prepare a draft lease, to be submitted to the Board, such draft to embody the following conditions, viz. : — 11 1. Term — Fourteen years. "2. Rent— Quarterly. " 3. Fencing — Puriri posts, 7 feet, 6 to chain, 7 rows, No. 6 wire. "4. Building — Plans to be approved of by Board. "5. Right to Re-enter — During the months of July, August, and September, in any year during currency of lease, the Board to have right to re-enter on five per cent, of land for purpose of planting and fencing, lessee thereafter to keep such f ances in repair. "6. Grass — Permanent pasture to be laid down four years from expiration of lease. 11 7. All fences to be kept in good repair, and the land free of furze, briirs, or other like nuisances. Failing these being done, the Board to have the riprht to have repairs, clearing, &c, done at lessee's expense." Resolved. "That a special meeting be held at Mr Wells' office on Tuesday, the 26th inst., at 7 p.m., to oonsiderthe draft lease." Resolvel " That the monthly meeting of the Board be held on the Tuureday before the full moon in each mont'i, at the Town Board offices, instead of the first Saturday in each month.
