At the meeting of creditors of Mr Robinson, of the New Zealand Clothing Factory, an opinion was expressed favourable to issuing a warrant and bringing him back. The question was defrrred till Monday. Preliminary legal steps are being taken meanwhile. The Board of Education Government building grant of fourteen thousand pounds has been received. A resolution was carried that £20,000 more would be required by the Board. Board re-election : —Moss, 41 ; Goldie, 32 ; Fairburn, 17 ; Tonks, 12; Bell, 8. Moss was elected. An application from the contractor of the Cambridge West School, not to enact penalty for not completing contract within time, was referred to the committee.

The Agent-General. Wellington, Last Night. Nothing definite baa been settled re Sir J. Vogel's successor. Sir E. W. Stafford and Mr Reader Wood are mentioned, also Colonel Whitmore. The last is certainly wrong. By the Hinemoa which Arrived here, 23 constables and two sergeants were passengers from Waikato. No recruiting has been carried on in Wellington for a considerable time, and the dclatchment from Waikato is intended to strengthen the force at the depot. Notice is issued by Government that as spring is approaching 1 , the rumbcr of men employed upon public works by Govern - meut, will be conaiderably Teduced. Employers of labor requiring the services of any men are requested to communicate •with, the Immigration. A«euta in various districts, or with Public Works officers in charge of works. A letter received from Sir Arthur Gordon says that he expects to arrive about 15th November.
