It was resolved that the Bonrd talte the necessary steps to carry out the wishes of the writers, aud the Clerk was requested to communicate with Mr Byron, a land owner in the Tahura District, on the same matter. The following tenders were received for the bridge over the Mangonua Cieck at Htnton's Gully : — Livingstone and Booth, £83 I.js ; Henderson nnd Nicoll, £112; T. Captain Runciman reported that he had interviewed the Kirikiriroi llond Board with a v'ew to getting them to contribute toward* the co.it of the construction of tho bridge, but the Board had absolutely refined to uccedo to hid request. Considerable discussion followed upon this announcement, all the members expressing rejjret at the refusal of the Kirikiriroa Board. A determination was evinced to compel the Board by legal means to contribute, and the clerk was instructed to consult Messrs Whitaker and Sheehan on the matter. In the meantime the tender of Messrs Livingstone and Booth was accepted for the bridge. Some discussion took place upon the necessity for executing certain works on Victoria Road, but nothing definite was done. Mr. Wheeler said that as the successful tender for the Crawfords Gully improvements was below what they had expected, he thought the difference between the estimate ana the actual price, some £20, ought to be expended in making good that portion of the central road between the tramway and Mr Tinne's gate. If this were done Mr Tinne was prepared to add £5 to the amount and give the services of a plough, charging only the man's wa&es. One of the small bridges near Mr Tinne's was also in want ot repair. The Chairman and Mr Leslie fully agreed that the work was a necessary one, but thought it would be better to wait till the cutting was completed first. There was no particular hurry, because the fine weather was approaching. It was agreed to follow this course. The following accounts were passed for payment: — Joseph Hamilton, £13 3s ; H. Marshall, £3 3s; Waikato Times, £3; Secretary, £6 2s. The Board then rose.

"Who do you love ?" said Jones to his sweetheart's baby sister. " I loves oo, " was the reply. And who does Sissy love 'r T "Sissy loves Mister Smif, toss he tisses 'er". Exeunt omnes.
