PUKEKURA HIGHWAY BOARD.
Road Closing. A public meeting of ratepayers wan held in the PuKenmu School-room on Friday Liht, re stopping roads, as advertised in the Waikato Tijik.s. The Chairman rood the advertisement from the Waikato Timsn, calling tho meeting. It was proposed, seconded, and carried that the roads, ds advertised on lut July, shoull be closed, the Act having been complied with in having duly prepared plans, &c, on view for a period of twelve weeks.
Alteration of Boundaries of District. A petition was received and read from Rangiaolua, district, .signed by eighteen, ratep i;ycr<, accompanied with plan, showing the proposed alteration, and requesting the trustees of this district to t'tke steps to get the Mtme added to ilieir district. lieforo closing the meeting, the Chairman read a circular from Mr A. Y. Macdonald re time t'tblp, when the following 1 was suggested by Mr L tlco and carried :—: — Ordinal y train leave Auckland at 6 30 a.m. and Te Awaniulu same timo ; no oatfle to be canied by ordinal y trains to Auckland from stations South of Meiccr. In consequence of tho trreat injury dene to cattle by tho cons! ant topping and shunting on ordinary trams, the goods tr.iiu now going to Ngaru.iwahia .should, twice a week, go through to Te Awamutu, returning as a special Waikato cattle tiain. The train on Mondays and Wednesdays to arrive in Auckland about i p.m., and that there should be no stoppages after Mercer, in order to bring the cattle in good order to maiket. The trustees would suggest to the Traffic Manager that an inorcjiho of efficiency would bo brouirht about at Ohaupo station by making the Postmaster take duties of station -master, with a porter under him, whereas, at the pie^ent, he is both station-master and porter, and consequently neither office is duly performed as it might be.
