COACH ACCIDENT.

An accident happened at the Hamilton junction on Saturday evening, which placed the lives and limbs of a number of people in imminent danger. The careless driving which is frequently noticed on one of the 'busses plying- between the station and the town, was fully and unmistakably exemplified. It appears th.it after the arrival of the train, Mr Mofflin's 'bus, driven by a young lad in his employment, loft the platfoim first, having inside four ladies and a little boy and two male passengers on tho box. On nearing the entrance gate tlio driver heard the man in charge of Edwards' 'bus Bhouting out to him to get out of the way and allow him to pass, or go out first. Tho distance to the gate was not, however, sufficient to pull up in, and Moffhn's 'bus ought to have been allowed to go out first. The driver of the other, however, came forws«\d at full speed, Avith the view of getting first, and succeeded in parsing Mofflin's vehicle, but not without striking the near fore wheel of the latter, and grazing several of the spokes. This unexpected rush frightened Mofflin's horses, so that they shied and swerved, I bringing the 'b.\s into violent contact with the right gate po.it and upsetting it. The pole gave way, and the horses v/ent on, but wero stopped by a bystander. The conveyance sustained much iujuty, one of | the springs being broken and the side and j top being crushed. Fortunately none of the passengers were seriously hurt, though they, of course, sustained a pretty severe shaking. The gate post, so violent was the shock, was nearly knocked out of the ground. The damage was temporarily repaired, and the coach brought on to the stables, but much will require to be done to it before it is ready to run again.
