FUNERAL OF EVELIN GRACE FLOYD.

The funeral left her late father's residence about; 3.30 p.m. on Thursday last, and was attended by a number of settlers and by the children of the Te Rahu Sabbath School, where the deceased was a pupil. But for the vain the funeral would have been very largely attended, the children having to be pent home on account of the wet. It came on to rain very heavily just as the cortege was about to start, and there was every symptom of its beins a very wet evening. Mauy persons, both : young and old, were thus prevented by the weather from attending to pay the I last tribute of respect to one who was so much beloved by till who knew her. She was a child with a kind heart and gentle disposition, and dearly loved her little playmates, her Inst request being to see some of them. Though only four years old, this promising child had been attend- ; ing the Sunday-school for neaily twelve months, and could repeat her lessons very correctly and intelligently for a child of I her year?. Groat sympathy is felt and expressed for Mrs Floyd, who only a short time sinco also lost her father and youngest brother. Instead of grieving, we should rather rejoice, knowing thnt our little Bister is gone to " that, better world which sin has not invaded," and where we all hope to meet her and " to never, never part again." — (Communicated).
